Here are some of our favorite dive sites 🙂
Crytal Bay :
• Maximum depth: 30m
• Currents: Strong
Deep dives, cold water, and strong currents, but it’s all worth it for a chance to see the elusive mola mola (giant sunfish). But be mindful that these creatures are very shy, even during its peak season (July-Sept), you will need to be patient and lucky to spot them.
USAT Liberty Wreck :
• Maximum depth: 30m
• Currents: Moderate
Arguably one of the most popular WWII wrecks in the region. The USAT Liberty was a 120m long US cargo ship that was hit by a Japanese torpedo in 1942. It now features a colorful growth of hard and soft corals and home to barracudas, garden eels, giant groupers, stingrays, nudibranch, octopus, bumphead parrotfish and more! A dive trip to Bali is never complete without visiting this historical wreck.
Manta Point :
• Maximum depth: 25m
• Currents: Strong
Love mantas? Come on over to Manta Point whereby you are almost always guaranteed to dive with these majestic rays. Becareful tho, currents are oftentimes strong here.
Secret Bay :
• Maximum depth: 12m
• Currents: Moderate
One of Bali’s popular sites for macro, guess it’s not so much of a secret after all. Here you may find many species of seahorses, octopus, nudibranchs, and shrimps. There are good chances of spotting the picturesque dragonet, and the bobbit worm!
Pemuteran Reef :
• Maximum depth: 20m
• Currents: Mild
This site is home to the world’s largest “biorock” artificial project, which has won a special award at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. Dive into vivid coral reef nurseries which have grown over the magnificently purposefully sunken structure, and gave into the expansive underwater gardens which serve as the bay’s center masterpiece.
Nearest Airport :
Ngurah Rai (Denpasar) International Airport (IATA: DPS)
Notes :
Flying into Denpasar airport is your gateway to Bali. Public transportation is widely available making it an ease to travel around Bali. Airport transfers are typically included in the trip itinerary for your convenience 🙂
