Here are some of our favorite dive sites 🙂
Manta Point :
• Maximum depth: 25m
• Currents: Moderate to strong
Generally an easy dive, but when currents pick up, it makes for a fun drift dive. The sloping profile of the reef has good coral growth and some impressive table corals. Ideal months to spot mantas is typically from March to May. Even if you don’t see mantas, you still have a good chance of spotting turtles, reef sharks, lobsters, moray eels. Keep a lookout for cuttlefish hovering over the corals whilst flashing their brilliant colors in an attempt to camouflage themselves.
Halik :
• Maximum depth: 50m
• Currents: Moderate
Dive down a sloping reef with beautiful coral formations in the shallows, and along the reef, coral bommies and gorgonian sea fans. A fun drift dive when the current picks up, where you will commonly see lionfish, moral eels, groupers, bumphead parrotfish, green and hawksbill turtles. On the deeper end, the site features a canyonlike profile where black and white tip sharks and eagle rays can often be spotted at around 30m.
Han’s Reef :
• Maximum depth: 30m
• Currents: Moderate
The site consists of variously sized coral bommies and rocky outcrops that dispersed over a sandy slope and is an ideal place for macro-lovers. You will usually be able to spot, frogfish, ghost pipefish, seahorses, mantis shrimps, moray eels, and a range of nudibranchs. If you look around, you may be greeted with batfish, angelfish, turtles, stingrays, and a wide selection of juvenile reef fishes.
Shark Point :
• Maximum depth: 50m
• Currents: Moderate
Your dive starts in the shallows which follows a slope down that gradually gets deeper to a plateau on around 25m. The coral covering here is nothing spectacular, but there’s a good chance to spotting white and blacktip sharks, grey reef sharks, and turtles. Keep an eye out on the sandy patch where you may spot lots of garden eels, ribbon eels, leaf fishes… and if you look up and beyond, the mantas might come out to play too.
Bounty Wreck :
• Maximum depth: 25m
• Currents: Moderate
Dive into a shallow wreck covered with soft and hard corals. Visibility is often good here (up to 20m) with a variety of fish families such as sweetlips, angelfish, and clownfish.
Nearest Airport :
Lombok International Airport (IATA: LOP)
Notes :
Airport transfers to the dive resorts are typically included in the trip itinerary for your convenience 🙂
