Here are some of our favorite dive sites 🙂
Mandarin Heaven :
This is heaven for the macro enthusiast. A gentle slope that stretches down from a plateau at 5m all the way beyond 40m, comprising predominantly rubble and soft coral patches, littered with a myriad of nudibranchs. The site also features two purpose placed tyre piles at around 8m which acts as a sanctuary for all manners of marine life including twin spot lionfish, banded and winged pipefish, trumpetfish, stonefish. Moving up to 5m performing your safety stop, you will likely spot the sought after mandarin fish among the sea urchins. Look around you, and you may just see turtles keeping you entertained as you end your dive.
Pit Rock :
This rock rests on a gradual rubble slope at a depth of 20m, and plays host to a number of amazing creatures, making it a favourite among underwater photographers. The small but biodiverse area is engulfed in macro life with several leaf scorpionfish, hinge beak, banded boxer shrimps, peacock mantis shrimps, and nudibranchs. Couple this with glass fishes around you and turtles, this makes for an enjoyable dive for all levels.
Northern Valley :
Dive along a slope and at around 25m, you will see the highest concentration of corals and marine life. Large gorgonians fans dominate the seascape at 27m, sheltering pygmy seahorses, whilst trevallies, batfish and fusiliers provide the area with rich and diverse colours. This site is suited for the experienced diver as it is mostly deep dives with strong currents.
Magic Rocks :
Make your way down to a sandy patch that bottoms at 30m, and you will be greeted by some gorgonian fans and the magic rocks. Keep a keen eye and this place will turn magical with stargazers and stingrays hiding in the sand, rubble covered shallows sheltering nudibranchs, tiny frogfish, mandarin fish, pipefish, octopus, leaf scorpionfish, and banded boxer shrimps crowding around the rocks along with cleaner shrimps and glass shrimps.
Cliff Hanger :
Descend down a buoy line down to 20m and gaze upon a stunning wall with gorgonian fans and whip corals. The reef reaches a plateau at 50m, and there’s plenty to see here. Watch the mandarin fish jot around the rubbles, along with nudibranchs and all sorts of shrimps and flatworms. If you’re interested in the bigger stuff, look around you and you may find turtles, batfish, sweetlips, and parrotfish.
