Here are some of our favorite dive sites 🙂
Goby Garden :
• Maximum depth: 18m
• Currents: Low
Dive into beautiful coral formations as well as colorful soft corals and sponges where you will find fascinating creatures such as the christmas tree worms, tiny decorator crabs, and a host of nudibranchs. Staying true to its name, you will find hundred of gobies around the rocks and hard corals. If you look close enough, you may find the occasional stonefish and octopus.
Karang Nibong Laut :
• Maximum depth: 31m
• Currents: Moderate to strong
This is an angular shaped rock that bottoms out at around 25m with a sandy bed that slopes down to 31m. Located on the tip of the island, this site makes it for a great spot for some drift diving action which attracts pelagics such as barracudas, jacks trevallies, and if you’re lucky… whale shark! Keep an eye out for turtles, and especially sharks sleeping under the rocks.
Terumbu Kuning :
• Maximum depth: 25m
• Currents: Mild to moderate
Also known as Yellow Reef, named for its yellow colored black coral trees that grow in abundance toward the bottom of the reef, as well as yellow butterfly fish that calls it home. Its rocky formation at the bottom also hosts nurse sharks hiding in the crevices. As you explore the site, you will find small critters such as shrimps, flatworms, gobies, pipefish, nudibranchs… and looking beyond the reef into the blue its where batfish, jacks, and fusiliers swim about.
